Get in touch
Call (757) 442-9041 or email communications@broadwateracademy.org. Tell us your child's age and the days you need. Someone will follow up to answer your questions and arrange a time to see the school. You can also ask about tuition assistance, which we offer to day students through a partnership with Clarity.

Tour the room
Come see the classroom your child would join and meet the teachers who run it. You can ask about the daily routine, the curriculum, and how the room is set up. Bring your questions and your child. After the visit, you will know whether the school fits your family.

Enroll and settle in
Complete enrollment, then plan a first week that suits your child's routine. Ask about breakfast, class times, and after-school options so you know how the day runs. If your child is boarding, ask about dinner, study hours, and lights out. Staff will help you settle in.
What to have ready
Most families bring the enrollment forms first, then a health form and immunization record. Have your emergency contacts and the names of adults allowed to pick up your child ready. If you are unsure what a form needs, ask and we will walk through it with you.
Pack a full change of clothes in a labelled bag, plus outdoor gear for the season. Add nap items if your child rests, and one small comfort object. Write your child's name on everything.
Before the first day, decide who drops off and who picks up, and tell the teacher those names. Talk about how you want to hear about the day. A short note or a word at the door both work.
The first weeks
The first days are often shorter. Your child may stay for part of the morning and build up from there. A familiar object from home helps, and a teacher greets your child by name at the door.
At pickup, teachers tell you what your child ate, where they played, and how they rested. They will say if your child settled quickly or needed a hand. Most children find their rhythm within a few weeks.

Yes. A tour is how most families decide, and children are welcome to come along.
What should my child bring on the first day?

What does a typical day include?
A day is usually built around arrival, play and learning, meals and rest, outdoor time, and pickup. Broadwater classes run 8:10 am to 3:20 pm, with breakfast from 7:15 am to 7:45 am and after school until 6:00 pm. Dinner is served 6 to 6:30 pm.
How will I know how my child is doing?
Parents hear about the day at pickup and when they ask teachers directly. You can also call (757) 442-9041 or email communications@broadwateracademy.org with questions. Staff will tell you what to expect for your child's age group.
Do you offer part-time or flexible schedules?
Schedules depend on the age group and on which openings are available. org to ask what is open for your child.
What if there is no place right now?
If no place is open for your child's age, ask us to let you know when one comes up. We will contact you when something opens.
What should I ask on the tour?
Ask about hours, meals, and how pickups work. Ask how the first weeks are handled and what the day looks like from arrival to pickup. Those answers tell you more than any brochure.
